The International Franchise Association (IFA) today applauded the establishment of the Congressional Franchise Caucus, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress formed to promote and educate about the community contributions of local franchise businesses across the country. The Franchise Caucus is co-chaired by U.S. Reps. Kevin Hern (R-OK), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), and Tony Cárdenas (D-CA).

IFA released the following statement on President Biden’s nominee for U.S. Department of Labor, Julie Su, who currently serves as Deputy Secretary of Labor. IFA cited Su’s track record of policies harmful to franchised businesses and her history of advancing new law rather than enforcing existing law as the role was intended.

IFA today sent a letter to Arizona Speaker of the House Ben Toma and members of the Arizona legislature urging their opposition to HB 2404, legislation that “would create the most onerous franchise law anywhere in the United States,” harming Arizona’s 19,000 franchised businesses and any future franchise opportunity.

The International Franchise Association (IFA) today announced that California’s AB 257, or the FAST Act, has been officially postponed until the November 2024 election, giving California voters the opportunity to weigh in on the law before it goes into effect. The referendum effort to qualify the measure for the ballot was led by the Save Local Restaurants coalition, co-chaired by IFA, the National Restaurant Association, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
