Steamoji Kick Starts the New Year with Growing Expansion Plans

January 26, 2023

Redmond, WA. Steamoji – a STEAM maker academy designed to enrich children’s typical studies by introducing them to new technologies in fabrication, physical computing, engineering, digital arts, coding, and applied design, brought its innovative STEAM academy to two new locations in 2022. This brings the brand to a total of 19 franchise and corporate owned locations. Additionally, Steamoji has 12 locations currently in development, with 10 expected to open in 2023.

This past year, Steamoji opened two new academies, one in the Kitsilano neighborhood in Vancouver, Canada, and their first location in the United States in Redmond, Washington. Both academies have experienced the support of their communities and have seen great success. Continuing to build upon this growth, Steamoji has signed 12 more deals, anticipating opening 10 throughout the course of the upcoming year.

In addition to the exciting expansion news, the recent signing of the CHIPS and Science Act into law, an act signed by the Biden Administration that is designed to boost U.S. competitiveness, innovation, and national security, has pushed the need for a pipeline of children experienced in STEAM to an all-time high. Steamoji’s exciting growth plans come at a time when building out the STEAM education field could not be more important.

The story of how Steamoji began is simple. After the brand’s founder, Hank Horkoff, noticed the sheer lack of quality in long term STEM outlets for his school-aged children, he knew he needed to make a change. Hank spent most of his career working within the tech sphere and understood just how important having STEM-related skills was in the industry. He brought this concern to other parents in his community and together they raised enough funding to get the ball rolling on a STEM education company.

“We are so excited to see what 2023 has in store for Steamoji,” said Hank Horkoff, Co-Founder and CEO of Steamoji. “Now that our business model is proven in Canada, we are focusing on our expansion in the United States. Our goal is to double our number of locations within the next year and get as many students introduced to STEAM as we possibly can.”

Steamoji is starting off 2023 by actively reviewing franchise inquiries for locations in Northern and Southern California, as well as with select multi-unit franchise partners globally. Steamoji currently has 3 corporate locations open and 16 franchise locations open across the United States and Canada. The total investment to open a Steamoji franchise ranges from $210,500 to $488,000, with a $40,000 franchise fee included.
