SCHOOL OF ROCK RIVERHEAD IS TURNING UP THE MUSIC IN NEW YORK WITH NEW GRAND OPENING

June 04, 2024

Riverhead, NY - (June 4, 2024) – School of Rock, the leader in performance-based music education with over 370 schools across 15 global markets, will be celebrating the opening of its school in Riverhead, New York with an event taking place at 212 West Main St. on Saturday, June 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will include a rock concert featuring the School of Rock Port Jefferson House Band and performances by the School of Rock Riverhead Rock 101Performance, and Grad Band programs.

School of Rock Riverhead, owned by Tracie and Jamie Smith, will mark their second location following the opening of School of Rock Port Jefferson in 2011. The couple's love for music and the School of Rock brand began back in 2006 when they enrolled their children in the program. The kids' growth in musical skills and self-confidence from the program inspired the couple to share it with their local community. Their passion to bring School of Rock’s mission of enriching lives through performance-based music education only continues to grow as the couple expands the services to more families and communities throughout eastern Long Island.

“At School of Rock Riverhead, students discover the power of collaboration as they jam with fellow musicians, harmonizing their talents to create something greater than the sum of its parts. They learn to communicate not just with words, but through the universal language of music, where emotions are expressed with every note,” said Tracie Smith, co-owner of School of Rock Riverhead. “School of Rock is a music school for all skill levels, ages, and musical aspirations. With students ranging from toddlers to adults, School of Rock is where students grow into real musicians. Our instructors teach NYSSMA training, ear training, music theory, college prep and most importantly how to rock out in a band.”

School of Rock provides students of all ages with an exciting and engaging music lesson experience, which includes bass lessons, guitar lessons, singing lessonsdrum lessons and piano lessons. Drawing from all styles of rock and roll, School of Rock students learn theory and techniques via songs from legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz and Led Zeppelin. Thanks to the school’s performance-based approach, students around the world have gained superior musical proficiency, with some moving on to record deals and larger platforms such as American Idol, The Voice and Broadway.

“Jamie and Tracie have done a tremendous job as owners and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see them continue their journey with School of Rock serving the community and enriching the lives of students with their second location opening in Riverhead. As owners and former School of Rock parents, they have experienced firsthand the impact a safe, engaging and uplifting community has on students to learn and build confidence,” said Stacey Ryan, COO of School of Rock. “They’ll do an excellent job with School of Rock Riverhead enriching the lives of students through excellence, innovation and community. I’m confident School of Rock Riverhead will find great success and make a difference for so many students.”
