(WASHINGTON, SEPT. 27) – The International Franchise Association (IFA) today announced that five member-brand CEOs attended the White House Economic Summit, a discussion between senior administration officials, Cabinet secretaries, and business leaders on the state of the American economy.

The event focused on the economic effects of the Administration’s regulatory actions and tax cuts. Panelists included Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors Kevin Hassett, and Chairman of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow.

“Franchise businesses have both contributed to and benefited from our nation’s recent economic growth. Across all business sectors and in every American community, locally-owned franchise small businesses are expanding, hiring, and training workers while reinvesting into their communities,” said IFA President and CEO Robert Cresanti. “IFA is pleased to be part of this event to share how tax cuts and deregulation have made it easier for small businesses to thrive.”

The following IFA members were in attendance:

  • Jerry Crawford, President & CEO, JANI-KING
  • Barb Moran Goodrich, Chairwoman, Co-Founder, and CEO, Moran Family of Brands
  • Steve Hockett, CEO, Great Clips
  • Jeff Huber, President & CEO, Home Instead Senior Care
  • Mark Liston, President, Glass Doctor

In 2018, the number of locally-owned franchise establishments is projected to grow by 1.9 percent to 759,000, to employ 8.1 million workers. The gross domestic product of the sector is projected to increase by 6.1 percent to $451 billion, or about 3% of U.S. GDP.
