WASHINGTON, Sept. 12—The International Franchise Association (IFA) today voiced strong support for provisions included in H.R. 3798, the Save American Workers Act.

In advance of House action this week, IFA urged Congress to restore the common-sense definition of full-time employment and provide relief for locally-owned businesses and the workers they employ.

In a letter sent to members of the House of Representatives, IFA urged the importance of the bill which would help bring certainty needed to create jobs and give workers the opportunities they need to succeed:

“The ACA’s definition of full-time employment of 30 hours of work per week is significantly below the traditional definition of 40 hours per week. The substantial changes in calculating full-time employment as it relates to the employer mandate have forced locally-owned franchise businesses to reduce hours. This has had a particularly negative impact on hourly, part-time, and seasonal workers.

“This bipartisan, commonsense bill will give businesses the certainty they need to create jobs, and it will give workers the opportunities they need to succeed.”
