Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii’s Dave Wagner Named 2023 Franchisee of the Year by the International Franchise Association
DENVER– Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, an experiential franchise brand with premium Hawaiian-sourced coffees and laid-back cafes with an authentic vibe, announces one of its top-performing franchisees, Dave Wagner, as an International Franchise Association (IFA) 2023 Franchisee of the Year. Wagner was honored at the 64th IFA Annual Convention in Phoenix, Ariz., for being an outstanding franchise establishment owner-operator.
The Franchisee of the Year Award recognizes leading franchise owners from IFA member brands whose outstanding performance and contributions help protect, enhance, and promote the franchise business model. Nominated by Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, Wagner was selected for his involvement in the Rancho Cucamonga, California area, embodiment of the entrepreneurial spirit, creation of healthy culture with his workforce, and mentorship of fellow franchisees.
“A true embodiment of ‘Aloha’ spirit, Dave radiates optimism and openness both in his daily interactions with customers and how he supports other franchisees within our system,” said Scott Snyder, CEO of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. “Dave’s commitment to exceptional customer service with Aloha and his love for giving back has strengthened his Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii franchise as a business and as a community hub. Dave exemplifies what it means to be a community-orientated business owner, and we are proud to call him ‘ohana (family).”
Wagner and his wife fell in love with the Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii brand during a trip to Maui in 2000 which inspired their leap into entrepreneurship with the opening of their cafe in 2009. Wagner has eagerly integrated the new brand innovations to his Bad Ass Coffee location, positioning his team to be on the cutting edge of industry developments while providing the franchisor with useful feedback.
With 15 years of ownership under his belt, Wagner leads a team of 12 comprised primarily of his regular customers’ children, a testament to the personal relationships he has built within the Rancho Cucamonga neighborhood. Following the wildfires in Maui’s Lahaina area and beyond, Wagner took it upon himself to organize community events and raises funds for relief efforts.
“Being recognized for this honor from the IFA is an experience unlike any other,” Wagner said. “Owning and running my Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, and given me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of my employees and customers. I am thankful for being awarded with this honor, and grateful to the corporate team, my fellow franchisees and, of course, my team for supporting me every step of the way.”
“Franchisees of the Year exemplify what franchising is all about – providing opportunity, serving others, and fulfilling the American Dream,” said Matthew Haller, President and CEO of the International Franchise Association. “We are proud to recognize Dave with the highest honor IFA awards to individual franchisees, and I have no doubt his work is changing lives and making a lasting community impact.”
