VetFran Committee Member Gordon Logan Receives VFW Citizenship Award
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) presented VetFran Committee member and Founder and CEO of Sport Clips Haircuts Gordon Logan with the James E. Van Zandt Citizenship Award this week at its annual convention. The award has numerous high-profile individual and corporate recipients dating back to 1953 including Sam Rayburn; late Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Gerald R. Ford, and Ronald Regan; Pfizer, Inc. and Walmart Associates. The award is given “to recognize significant contribution to the spirit of service and dedication to the nation that inspires us to display better citizenship.” “It’s an honor to receive the award and accept it on behalf of all the Sport Clips team members and franchisees who have worked so hard to support our service men and women through our military-focused programs,” says Logan. “Sport Clips has been the “Official Haircutter of the VFW” since 2006, and we have worked closely with the VFW Foundation to raise almost $2 Million for its Operation Uplink Free Call Days program through our nationwide Help A Hero fundraiser. “While we continue to fund call days monthly, we recognize the number of troops returning to civilian life is increasing. To support these veterans, we are proud to announce that Help A Hero will begin funding a new scholarship program, to be administered by the VFW, this fall. It is our goal to provide scholarships to veterans that will assist them in their transition from the military to successful civilian careers.” Logan, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serves on the VFW Foundation Board, is a member of the IFA’s VetFran Committee and is Chairman of the VetFran Mentor Program. Sport Clips supports veterans and active-duty military through preferential in-store pricing and discounts on franchise opportunities through the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) VetFran program. In addition, the company is a proud sponsor of other veteran-support organizations such as Wounded Warriors Family Support’s High Five Tour, Honor Flights for WWII Veterans, and Ageless Aviation Dreams, which provides rides in Stearman biplanes for WWII Veterans.
