The franchise discusses why it is so important to give back and use your platform for good.

Last month Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers donated $15,000 to the Kids In Need Foundation as a result of its annual National Frozen Custard Day initiative. The Kids In Need Foundation, an organization Freddy’s has worked with since 2016, provides free school supplies to thousands of kids and teachers across the country and has distributed a total of one billion in school supplies to date. Freddy’s proudly presented the Kids In Need Foundation with the $15,000 check at the Project Teacher location in Wichita, Kansas on September 19.
The Kids In Need Foundation’s mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed in the classroom by providing free school supplies nationally to students at schools where at least 70 percent of students are enrolled in the federal free or reduced lunch program. Their work directly benefitted six million students and 200,000 teachers in 2018.
The initiative combines getting a great deal with doing a great deed. On National Frozen Custard Day, which falls on August 8 every year, guests were able to purchase a single cone, custard cookie or dish of Freddy’s signature frozen custard for just $1. Freddy’s then donated 50 fifty of the proceeds to Kids In Need, as they have over the past four years. Through this annual National Frozen Custard Day promotion, Freddy’s has donated a total of $55,000 to Kids In Need as part of its overall partnership with the foundation.
“Freddy’s continued commitment to our organization has helped to provide school supplies to hundreds of additional students and teachers across the country,” said Corey Gordon, chief executive officer of Kids In Need Foundation. “We’re thankful to Freddy’s for sharing our cause with their customers and giving them the opportunity to support the mission as well as enjoying that delicious custard.”
The initiative first came about in 2016, when Freddy’s co-founder and COO Scott Redler was looking for a way to use the brand’s national outreach to celebrate the frozen custard holiday, while also doing good. “Every child deserves the joy of an education, and every teacher deserves to be able to give them that gift, regardless of their circumstances,” said Redler. “We are so happy to help make that possible by working with this incredible organization.”
The team at Freddy’s has always been motivated by their mission of preserving family values and making everyone feel cared for, so they see their frozen custard promotion as just another great way to bring that aspect of their service beyond their restaurants. The initiative combined something that guests love, which is Freddy’s signature frozen custard, with something Freddy’s loves, which is doing good for others and spreading joy.
“Being able to use Freddy’s national reach for good, through our partnership with the Kids In Need Foundation, continues to be one of our proudest achievements,” said Redler, “and this year’s success is no different.” Freddy’s looks forward to years of success and support with Kids In Need in the future.
