Franchisee Friday, Kristin Jedamski and Debbie Wintz, Rhea Lana's
Kristin Jedamski needed an economical way to clothe her children. She was invited to a Rhea Lana’s Moms-to-Be pre-sale, and an entrepreneur was born.
Jedamski left a career in human resources when she needed to find something with a more flexible schedule that would enable her to be at home with her children.
As her young family grew, Jedamski, the wife of a school teacher, knew it was going to be costly to clothe two little ones at the same time. Rhea Lana’s was an opportunity for her find quality clothes, toys and furniture for her growing family at an average of 25% of retail prices.
Kristin then started volunteering at the bi-annual consignment sale so that she would get to shop early. She also paid careful attention to how the sales operated. As her kids outgrew their clothes, she would sell them and re-invest the money in the next season’s attire.
“I told my husband, ‘J.J., I can do this,’” Jedamski said. “I was very passionate about it. In early 2012, Jedamski and her mom, Debbie Wintz, purchased the Rhea Lana’s franchise in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Kristin and Debbie held their first sale in May. They later purchased a second franchise in South Tulsa, Oklahoma in July 2015.
More than anything, Jedamski appreciates the flexibility that owning the business provides her family. “I love it,” she said. “It’s more than a full-time job leading up to events. But at the same time, I’m on the PTA at my kid’s school, I get to be home when they are home and the flexibility is very wide.”
