IFA WINS GRASSROOTS INNOVATION AWARD FROM PUBLIC AFFAIRS COUNCIL
WASHINGTON, Jan. 30th –The International Franchise Association (IFA) today won the 2019 Public Affairs Grassroots Innovation award for improving issue awareness among franchise owners by using an e-learning platform as an effective grassroots strategy to “gamify” its issue education and mobilization to achieve advocacy success on Capitol Hill.
In advance of IFA’s 2018 annual fly-in in September, IFA partnered with 1HUDDLE to provide advocates with access to a mobile-app based platform containing several interactive courses on the public policy issues they would be addressing with their respective Members of Congress.
“We are honored to receive the Grassroots Innovation Award and want to thank 1HUDDLE for helping us implement an innovative new instrument across our grassroots programs and enhance our advocacy. By applying the 1HUDDLE technology to our grassroots strategy, it allowed us to effectively leverage our advocates’ comprehension on many of our most important issues, including labor and tax,” said IFA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy Matt Haller. “Franchise owners take time away from their businesses and come to Washington are still busy managing their businesses back home, so simplifying how we increase political participation through technology is not only invaluable to our advocacy strategy, it is instrumental to making our content more accessible to all of our members.”
Data from the platform showed that 97 percent of fly-in attendees who used the app experienced a 72 percent increase in knowledge retention and only had to commit on average 2 minutes and 31 seconds per “game” or session.
IFA accepted the award during the 2019 Public Affairs Council Conference Advocacy Conference.
