Franchising Joins President Trump for Executive Order Signing on Association Pension Plans

IFA applauds President Trump’s continued commitment to small businesses

WASHINGTON, Aug. 31— THE International Franchise Association, the oldest and largest organization representing the franchise industry, today joined President Trump as he signed an executive order aimed at boosting retirement savings by allowing small businesses to band together to offer 401(k)s.

“The economic growth we have seen over the past two years has benefitted large and small businesses alike, this new opportunity will allow our franchise brands to provide better benefits for their employees,” said IFA President & CEO Robert Cresanti. “We applaud the work of the Administration and look forward to working together to help ensure the retirement security for millions of franchise employees across the country.”

The executive order calls on the Labor Department and Treasury to make it easier for smaller employers to offer retirement plans. Allowing for open multiple employer plans, which has bipartisan support in Congress, would eliminate the need for businesses to have a common interest in order to pool their retirement assets into a single 401(k). The change would strengthen retirement for American workers.

IFA President & CEO Robert Cresanti, alongside franchise business owners, joined President Trump in North Carolina today for the signing of the executive order.
