Summer road trips are back in full swing, which makes car wash and detailing franchise businesses a hot investment this summer.
Previously, we analyzed why car repair franchises were a hot summer investment, which still holds true, as you need a car to be inspected and in top shape before long summer road trips, but consumers want their vehicles looking just as good on the outside as they do under the hood.
A study by Statista valued the 2021 U.S. car wash and detailing market is currently at US$11.5 billion, a 5.3 percent increase from 2020’s pandemic-affected revenue. Prior to COVID, the industry saw a 28.4 percent increase from 2011 to 2019 and a market analysis conducted by ResearchandMarkets and backed by Yahoo! Finance predicts that the U.S. car wash service market size will reach US$20.74 billion by 2028 (a forecast CAGR of 4.8 percent from 2021 to 2028).
Experts predict that this growth will primarily come from an increase in the number of vehicles on the road as low interest rates continue for the foreseeable future. In the U.S., more than 72 percent of drivers use professional car wash services frequently, with conveyor car washes generating the most revenue.
