Jersey Mike’s Substantial Commitment to Giving

Spotlight on People

In 2010, 11 Dallas/Ft. Worth Jersey Mike’s Subs locations banded together to create a co-op, deciding to use their community relationships to make a difference. These local business owners decided to partner with well-known Dallas based charity, Wipe Out Kids Cancer, to create a month-long fundraiser. The locations provided a free sub with a donation to the charity, which raised $50,000 in one month.

Seeing this tremendous result, Jersey Mike’s corporate leadership in Manasquan, NJ decided to make this a company-wide effort building on their long-standing commitment to giving back. Fast forward to March 2021: since the nationwide program began, Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving has raised $47 million for national and local charities, including children’s hospitals, local foodbanks, youth organizations and more.  This includes more than $408,000 to the original Dallas charity, WOKC.

In addition to Month of Giving, Jersey Mike’s is a Leadership Partner of Feeding America, meaning they make commitments to provide food or monetary contributions throughout the year. This year, on Nov. 20 and 21st, they committed 20% of total sales to Feeding America to assist those living with food insecurity across the country, cumulating in a $3 million contribution. CEO Peter Cancro shared a message of thanks, reinforcing the company’s commitment.

Jersey Mike’s provides an excellent example of how individual, local business owners can impact both their communities, but also the larger franchise system as a whole. The system provides support for the individual owners, while allowing them flexibility and the opportunity to make a greater impact than they could alone.

During this season of reflection, we thank Jersey Mike’s and all franchise owners who continue to give back to their communities. Happy Thanksgiving!
