Job Opening: Human Resources Director

The International Franchise Association (IFA) seeks an HR Director to plan, direct, and coordinate all human resources activities for the organization. This person will serve as the main HR contact for a staff of 50, which is expected to grow to 80 by July 1, 2025, working alongside the CFO and outsourced services. The HR Director will play a key role in managing this expansion, ensuring a smooth onboarding process, cultural integration, and operational alignment as the organization continues to evolve. This role is required to be hybrid in the Washington, DC office.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement new recruiting strategies to fill open positions.
  • Manage full recruiting processes, including job description review, posting, resume review, pre-screening, reference checks, and keeping applicants informed of the status.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding of payroll and benefits, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires during periods of growth.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records for new, existing, and past employees following the organization’s document retention policy.
  • Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws across multiple states with remote and in-office employees.
  • Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Administer the performance management process for the organization. Implement new strategies and innovations in the process.
  • Assist management in building out professional development plans for the full staff, including training and onboarding for new employees as the team expands.
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Assist leadership in the development and administration of initiatives to maintain a positive organizational culture and employee morale.
  • Drive change management, training, and employee growth initiatives.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Assist with preparation of personnel budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop or administer special projects in areas such as job description updates, employee benefit programs, and other strategic initiatives as requested by management.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Background in multiple HR disciplines.
  • Experience working with full-time remote employees in multiple states.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations in multiple states.
  • Knowledge of California employment law is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Experience with Paychex is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • HR certifications are a plus.

This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000
