Caring Senior Service of Northern Virginia to host second annual Senior Resource Summit in Haymarket
The home care service company joins the Haymarket Police Department and Park Valley Church in April to provide expert insights for seniors and their families
GAINESVILLE, Va. – March 24, 2025 – Caring Senior Service of Northern Virginia, the Haymarket Police Department and Park Valley Church of Haymarket will host the second annual Senior Resource Summit: Planning for a Better Future on Thursday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Haymarket, Virginia.
The free event will host about 75 vendors at the church, located at 4500 Waverly Farm Drive in Haymarket. These vendors will provide information on downsizing, wills, estate planning, medical assistance, in-home care and senior living. Lunch will also be provided, but registration is required.
“Last year’s event was met with a great deal of enthusiasm, and we expect a larger turnout this year,” said Caring Senior Service of Northern Virginia Owner Wayne Mitchell. “Those of us who work with seniors know that it’s often difficult to navigate through the changes and challenges of senior life. This summit is dedicated to helping make those challenges less daunting so that seniors and their families can focus more on enjoying their lives.”
This year, the conference’s keynote speakers include:
- Retired FBI Agent John Schwartz: Schwartz served in the U.S. Army for nine years before joining the FBI in 1996. Upon his retirement in 2021, he founded The Center for Combating Elder Financial Abuse.
- Dr. Brittany Elkins: Elkins received her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Florida, and is a Parkinson’s Disease specialist in Northern Virginia.
Mitchell said the summit was initially envisioned by Haymarket Police Chief Al Sibert as an event to help seniors educate themselves so that they are better protected from predatory business practices. But by the time the first summit was planned in 2024, the event had expanded to include a variety of resources that would benefit seniors in every aspect of their lives.
“The speakers and vendors have been carefully chosen because they offer the most valuable information and resources in the Haymarket community,” Mitchell said. “The summit isn’t just for seniors, either. We encourage the adult children of senior parents to learn about all the services in the area that are available to them and their aging loved ones.”
