IFA Applauds Rep. Rush for Resolution Establishing National Franchising Day on September 13th
Rush resolution recognizes franchising’s enormous role in the U.S. economy
[Washington, D.C.] (September 14, 2017) – International Franchise Association (IFA) President and CEO Robert Cresanti issued the following statement today in response to Congressman Bobby Rush’s (D-IL) new resolution establishing September 13th as National Franchising Day:
“Few understand the monumental impact the franchise community has on the U.S. economy. The 733,000 small business locations across America generate 7.6 million jobs and directly contribute $674.3 billion in economic output. More importantly, franchise owners are deeply committed members of their communities who give back and offer a real pathway to success through job training and workforce development.
“Representative Bobby Rush is a terrific leader to the franchise industry. By establishing today as National Franchising Day, Rep. Rush recognizes the hardworking women and men of franchising who help keep our economy strong. We applaud Rep. Rush’s continued leadership and look forward to working with him and his colleagues to ensure the franchise path remains a strong career option for generations to come.”
According to IFA research, more than 20.5 percent of franchise businesses are owned by minorities, compared to 14.5 percent of non-franchised businesses. And according to research by PricewaterhouseCoopers, 45 percent of all U.S. franchises are female-owned or co-owned by male and female partners.
