VetFran’s founding member, The Dwyer Group has launched a new scholarship program “Women in the Trades” and strongly encourages female veterans and military spouses to apply.  The program is designed to help women achieve their dreams and goals by beginning a career in the trades. Many women don’t know the great success and personal fulfillment that they can experience working as frontline technicians or salespeople in trade businesses (plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, appliance repair and more) or how opening a franchise business specializing in a trade can lead to viable, respectable career paths. Six $1,500 scholarships will be awarded annually.  The scholarship will cover tuition, fees, and books only payable to an accredited institution or trade specific school. The Dwyer Group is also interested in helping female candidates find  employment with some of the over 1,400 locations currently in operation with their franchise brands including: Mr. Rooter, Mr. Electric, Mr. Appliance, Aire Serv, Glass Doctor, Rainbow International Restoration and Grounds Guys. To learn more, please visit the Women in the Trades website or download the application.
