Objectively evaluate their strengths and weeknesses and also identify opportunites for self improvement. Take the time necessary to build their relationship with their mentor. Respect the time their mentor is providing to them. Be a good listener. Honor confidentiality with their mentor. Be prepared to objectively evaluate and discuss their mentor's performance to ensure they are getting what they need out of the relationship. Assume responsibility for their personal and professional development. Mentors are facilitators, but mentors must be doers.
