Caldeira Urges Lenders to Bank on Franchising at Consumer Bankers Association Convention

WASHINGTON, March 19-International Franchise Association (IFA) President & CEO Steve Caldeira will address CBA LIVE, the annual convention of the Consumer Bankers Association (CBA), in a panel entitled, "Engaging in Franchise Lending: Growing Bank Loans in 2012 Using a Proven Concept." The Monday program kicks off the trade group's meeting in Austin, attracting over 1,000 lenders. 

 

"The franchise industry is reporting growth pacing ahead of non-franchised small businesses," said Caldeira. "Franchise lending offers a path for lenders to achieve volume through proven concepts, with metrics-driven tools and solutions that minimize risk." 

 

Joining Caldeira on the panel, led by Bank of America Line of Business Executive Joe DiNicola, are IFA board members Shelly Sun, CEO and Co-Founder of BrightStar Care and Darrell Johnson, President & CEO of FRANdata, the franchise research company. Lynetta Tipton Steed, Division Head of Business & Community Banking, Regions Financial Corporation, will also speak on the panel. 

 

IFA launched a high-profile Credit Access Campaign last year in partnership with CBA, the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders, and others. An expanded coalition of organizations including the Financial Services Roundtable, the Independent Community Bankers of America, the National Association of Women Business Owners, and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will co-host a Small Business Lending Summit April 17 in Washington, D.C. titled, "One Year Later: Is Small Business Lending Improving?" 

 

Acting FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg and Acting Comptroller of the Currency John Walsh, as well as SBA Administrator Karen Mills and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will address the summit.
